HELP is a not-for-profit charitable membership organization with members that come from the community and professional home economists and dietitians. Staff positions are an Executive Director and Administrative Assistant, both permanent positions, and 9 contract facilitators.
Regina Home Economics for Living Project (HELP) is a registered non-profit charitable organization started in the community in 1988 by a group of home economists who recognized that many residents lack some of the basic skills relating to healthy food choices (including selection and preparation), money management and consumer skills. This lack of knowledge and skills kept people from being able to reach their potential of becoming full participating community members. HELP is the only organization locally and provincially, providing education and training for "everyday living" that uses trained professionals to deliver its programs. Information is delivered through participatory workshops and one-to-one counseling that enables and empowers people to take control of their own resources, both human and economic. Although programs for those least able to pay are given priority, programs are accessible to all community members and are provided in plain language and an appropriate literacy level.
